The Theory of Quantum Mechanics
A hundred years ago Einstein developed the theory of quantum mechanics.
Essentially the theory deals with two things:
Probability and uncertainty.
The theory, put simply, states that particles have dual patterns until they encounter some interference and in space there is always interference. The uncertainty and unpredictability of the particles has become the fundamentals of quantum mechanics.
Basically nothing is for sure.
Electrons, photons, neutrons, and protons are what everything is made of. They are what we study. We claim that biology is the study of life but we fail to mention that chemistry is the study of what this life is made of. We also fail to mention that it is relevant to love.
And because of this fact, quantum mechanics tells us that life is uncertain, unclear, and unpredictable.
Life is the ultimate teacher of quantum mechanics.
When I met you, when our paths interfered, I could swear that our hearts were aligned.
I had skipped through wave lengths, traveled through time, shook apart the mountains, just to feel your heart against mine.
I blanketed the sun, stopped the world from turning, and stole all the minute and hour hands from clocks to see if I could possibly stop the theory of relativity.
And for awhile time seemed to slow and freeze.
When you held me I lived in a world without theories.
We spun in circles and danced through the halls. We revolved, created a dual pattern of you and I. We became so close as if to eliminate space because without space there is no interference. It was all a lie.
I didn't need to know the how's or why's, because all I knew is that I was in love with you. I didn't need an explanation, it was something I had no use for. Every time you cried I caught the tears on fingertips and tasted them on your lips. Your pain was my pain, every drop you bled brought me closer to being dead. You were the one losing blood but I was losing the one I loved. Your wound was mine, but wounds take time to heal and that was something neither of us could steal.
We failed as thieves because theories cannot be stopped.
Newton's first law states that objects in motion stay in motion.
So the world began turning and the hands dropped back onto clocks.
With each rotation you seemed to lose devotion
And each theory gained strength.
Our hearts were still aligned but at what length?
The time we froze began to thaw and melt,
You began to question if love is really what you felt.
This is where life whispered in failing student's ears "quantum mechanics," as if to confirm their fears that it wasn't through with all it's tricks.
It had to demonstrate that nothing is for sure.
Even if you lock your door, time will break inside and rob you of your breath.
And life will steal all the certainty you had left.
And I'm sitting here wondering if I could dream up a theory that would give me you.
Because "quantum theory predicts particles may pop up any time in empty space. These particles disappear so quickly (due to the uncertainty principle) that they cannot be measured directly."
You entered my life so quickly. A star shooting across the sky that leaves you wondering if you really saw it. And I wonder if due to the theory of quantum mechanics and relativity if you'll disappear just as quickly. Because time moves on, and why wouldn't you?
I have no evidence to prove this to be untrue.
I am no scientist, just a girl with a pen, but here's my theory of love: love makes no sense. It fails all theories and that may be contradictory but when your lips are against mine time does not exist and I feel a sudden certainty that your atoms were meant to revolve around me.
And if you stay, despite the unpredictability of being with me, I promise I will prove this theory.
